Sports and Spa At Stage Neck Inn

Stage Neck Pool and Tennis Club is located on your left as your approach the Inn, beside York Harbor Beach. The freshwater outdoor pool is open from early June to mid-September. Food is served there at the outdoor grill from July 4 through Labor Day. Clay tennis courts are available, weather permitting. Please reserve courts by calling Ext. 418 or the Front Desk.

The Fitness Room and Indoor Pool
are located on the first floor. Included are a Sauna, Universal Gym with Free Weights, Lifecycle, Rower, Runner’s Treadmill. The indoor pool offers a Jacuzzi Tub. Towels are available at the Front Desk or use the ones from your room: they will be replaced by your turn-down maid in the evening.

Massage, Reiki, Makeup, Manicures and Pedicures
are available in The Spa at Stage Neck Inn. The spa staff
will try to accommodate your appointment requests for treatments
when your group is not in session. Please provide advanced notice to the
spa to ensure desired services may be obtained.

Bicycle Rentals and Tours. Portsmouth Rent & Ride, 603-433-6777. Will deliver bikes to the Inn.

Cliff Walk. The Marginal Way originates in Perkins Cove, Ogunquit (11 miles North of Stage Neck Inn) and follows the coast to Ogunquit Beach.

The Ledges

Golf: Group golf is arranged at The Ledges Golf Club, One Ledges Drive, York, Maine, 207-351-9999. Rugged, New England terrain frames a setting where your concentration will be broken by spectacular scenery, outstanding course conditions and various woodland inhabitants. 18 holes.

York Golf and Tennis Club offers an 18-hole Don Ross golf course and 6 clay tennis courts just 2½ miles from the Inn. While this is a private club, our guests enjoy membership privileges there. 207-363-2683 for golf; 207-363-4752 for tennis. Another fine course is The Links at Outlook, South Berwick, Maine, 207-384-GOLF(4653). Built in the Scottish tradition and designed by Golf World's Architect of the Year, 1999, this public course offers 140 acres of undulating bent grass fairways and greens. Par 71, 18 hole.

Two Par-3 courses are also available: Merriland Farm in Wells, 207-646-0508; and Pine Hollow in Sanford, 207-324-5271. Wells also offers a practice range, Tee Shots, 207-646-2727.

Horseback Riding is available at Bush Brook Stables, Inc., 463 West Street, Biddeford (40 minutes North). 207-284-7721. Scenic trail rides are available, May through October, through the York Recreation Department, 207-361-2840.

Outdoor Jogging Routes and Cross-Country Ski Trails (weather permitting) have been established. Obtain a map at the Front Desk.

Sailing, Scenic Cruises, and Walking Tours are scheduled regularly by:
Cape Arundel available out of Perkins Cove, Ogunquit. Tickets for “Silver Lining” are available at Perkins Cove parking lot; tickets for “Cricket” are available through Finestkind, listed below. Advance arrangements may be made through Mainely Fishing, at left.

Favorite Shopping Areas

Kittery (9 miles south) features many factory outlet malls clustered along Route 1. Anne Klein, Black & Decker, Carters Children’s wear, Corning, Dansk, L'eggs/Hanes/Bali, Liz Claiborne, Ralph Lauren and others. Here you will also find the Kittery Trading Post (sporting goods and clothing similar to L.L. Bean).

Portsmouth (11 miles south) offers many unique small shops in the downtown, waterfront area. Just west in Newington are two mall complexes with many store chains.

Wells (14 miles north) large clustering of antique shops plus a couple of factory outlets including Cannon, Fieldcrest, and Lighthouse Depot (the world's largest lighthouse gift store). There are also a number of antique book dealers in town.

Portland/South Portland (1 hour north) features The Maine Mall, a Christmas Tree Shop, Target, and many quaint downtown stores in the waterfront Old Port.

Freeport (1½ hours north via the Maine Tpk and Rte 295) is home of LL Bean, many factory outlet malls and craft shops.
